Where's your Focus?

Where's your Focus?

As kids during the holidays, we often would focus on one thing—presents! We may have talked about them, thought about them, and even danced with excitement. But you probably remember being reminded that Christmas isn’t all about gifts. While it’s okay to be excited, it’s important to keep the right focus. The disciples faced a similar challenge in Acts. Jesus was talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but they were fixated on the restoration of Israel (Acts 1:4-8). It wasn’t a bad idea—it just wasn’t God’s plan at that moment. Jesus gently redirected their focus, and when they listened, later the Holy Spirit filled them and a mass salvation happened (Acts 2). Remember, God’s plans for you are always the best. As you seek Him through His Word and listen for His voice, focus on His purpose for you—and you’ll be blessed beyond measure!

This Book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. - Joshua 1:8
